"Is Sara here please?" The young girl at the door asked Xani, her brown eyes bright and inquisitive.

"Sure." he replied his mid-night blue eyes expressive, "But she might not want to talk to you. She hasn’t been feeling well recently."

"Just tell her that Charly is here and I want to talk to her." The girl said. He nodded and turned away from her into the house. Sara was still not talking to him, despite the three days that had passed since the ‘incident’ in the lounge room.

Of the few times she had emerged from her bed-room she hadn’t even glanced at him, talking to Qui-Gon for a few minutes instead before journeying back into her room. Xani felt troubled, he knew that he had hurt her badly but he didn’t think that, that sort of scare would stop her talking to him completely. It had been a partial reaction to her locking him outside and also because he didn’t want her to feel like she had any power over him.

"Sara?" He asked as he knocked on the door. There was no answer, but then again there usually wasn’t. "Sara, Charly is here."

There was silence for a few minutes and then the door opened to let Sara through, she didn’t even glance once at him as she strode past into the lounge room her face a blank mask. Something inside Xani snapped and he lashed out his hand catching her around the wrist.

"Sara." He pleaded softly. "Why won’t you talk to me?"

"Let me go." Sara said her voice dangerous. He didn’t instead his grip tightened on her wrist.

"Not until you tell me what I’ve done." Xani said.

"I’m not talking to you because I realised a huge truth, you’re nothing but a liar. You don’t care about me, you despise me." Sara said. "You’ve only been doing this because you want someone to fawn up to you."

"How on earth did you come up with that?" Xani asked incredulous.

"What else would explain the way you have treated me over the last couple of days?" Sara asked, "You couldn’t love me and still hurt me like that."

"Sara. I do love you." Xani said. It was true, he did love her, he loved her more then anything in the world but if only she would see sense.

"No you don’t." Sara said her face a mask, "Even Juli said you don’t."

"Juli?" His astonishment was so great that he dropped her wrist long enough for Sara to run to the door. For a few minutes Xani sat stunned in total silence. It had been Juli who had done it, who had turned Sara against him. Silently Xani picked up his cloak and left the room.

He found her in by herself standing on the veranda of a training room watching the cars go past. Her back was towards him and so she didn’t see him coming until he had his hands on her shoulders as he whipped her around.

"Xani." Juli cried not seeming to care about the pain he knew he would have caused her. "Come back for seconds?" She asked. Something in Xani flared to life and before he knew it he was holding her by the neck up against the wall. "Ooo Xani." Juli cooed, "I like it when you play rough with me."

"Stay away from her." Xani growled. Red mist was beginning to seep into the edges of his vision, his breathing came in shallow gasps and for a few seconds Xani felt the Darkside it’s allure and it’s power.

"Who Sara?" Juli asked remaining remarkably calm despite Xani’s fingers around her neck. "I thought she was just a play thing between me and you."
Xani released her long enough to slap her across the face hard enough to make Juli fall. He dragged her back up again.

"I don’t want you talking to her. I don’t want you anywhere near here. If you do, or I find out you do then there will be consequences to pay."

He dropped her again and stalked away. He was half-way across the room when he first heard her laughing.

"You don‘t realise it, but you‘re going to fall sooner or later." Juli said, "Fall to the darkside just like Barin. Then there will be no-one to protect your little monnie."

"If you touch her, I will personally see that what Barin started will be completed." Xanatos said. The red-mist was still there, just at the edges. It called to him to hurt her, to make her feel pain but he ruthlessly suppressed it.

"Ooo, I’m scared." Juli said laughing madly, "I’m so scared of you. You are pathetic Xanatos, just like Barin was."

"I’m not like Barin." Xanatos snapped back as he got to the door, "Unlike him, I don’t do things by halves."

With that he stalked from the room slamming the door. Behind him Juli began to laugh maniacally higher and higher until the laughter turned to tears and she sobbed into the concrete of the floor.
